 Fertilizer requirement 

The Fertilizer requirement of crop mainly depends upon the initial soil fertility conditions, moisture regime, genotypes, growth and residue recycled. In general, 15-20: 30-40: 20: 20 kg N, P, K, S/ha is recommended.

The micronutrient deficiency is also expected in lentil growing areas. Zinc is the most critical micronutrient that influences the productivity potential of lentil, therefore 10-15kg zinc sulphate per hectare or foliar nutrition of 0.5% ZnSO₄ should be done in zinc deficient soils to avoid yield losses. In rainfed areas or delayed sowing, foliar spray of 2% urea is recommended at flowering stage. For sowing in Utera, application of 20 kg nitrogen after harvesting of paddy and foliar application of 2 %  urea / DAP is recommended at flowering and podding stage.
